Wood is cut to 3/4" x 3/4" x 5 1/2" length pen blank
Pen tubes from the pen kit are measured
Pen blanks are cut about 1/16" longer than the pen tube
Pens blanks are drilled out at the diameter of the pen tube
Pen tubes are scuffed with sand paper to provide a holding surface for the glue
Pen tubes are glued into the tubes
Pen blanks with tubes are trimmed so the brass tube is flush with the wood
Appropriate bushings for the pen kit are selected and mounted on the pen mandrel with the pen blanks
With the pen mandrel securely seated on the lathe the pen blanks are turned to just above the bushings
The pen blanks are then sanded flush to the bushings
Sanding continues though 600 grit
Finish of choice is applied to the sanded pen blanks
When the finish is dry, the pen is assembled by pressing the components together with a vise
